From One Extreme to Another

Hi Everyone,

It's Kath here from the Craftwork Cards UK Design Team and I'm sharing my creations made for the Create a Wreath Blog Hop. You'll have arrived here from Barb Craft's post using the beautiful Bohemian Create a Wreath Kit on the USA Blog.

I've made two wreaths using this gorgeous Mr and Mrs kit.

The first one is relatively simple - a less is more creation:

I covered the chipboard heart with the patterned papers included in the kit and used a piece of Cut and Dry Foam with Black Soot Distress Ink to colour the edges. I attached the small flowers with a glue pen and added Candi to the centres. I'd normally bend the petals upwards but the flowers are covering the holes through which you can attach ribbon so I couldn't do that this time.

The focal point of the wreath is a layered bloom made up of four flowers from the kit and I added a pearl to the centre of the spiral flower. Here's a close up:

For my second wreath I wanted to show you how you can completely change the look of the kits by colouring the die cuts. Each kit contains enough die cuts to create two wreaths but I got a bit carried away here and used almost a full kit's worth of flowers to create one wreath - less is more went out of the window on this one!

I sprayed the backs of all of the flowers with a Purple Pansy Glimmer Mist spray and when I had layered them together I used an Ink Duster to colour them with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. To add some shimmer and sparkle I sprayed the finished wreath with Silver Spray and Sparkle.

Here are some close ups of the individual blooms:

If you are in the UK and want to buy a Create a Wreath kit, they are available from craft shops or on-line here.
If you would like the chance to win a Create a Wreath kit don't forget to leave a comment on this blog post. Each day we will randomly choose a winner and a lovely Create A Wreath Kit will be on its way to you! I'd love to know what you think of my creations.

Tomorrow remember to hop over to the USA Blog and see what Stacey has made with the Vintage Chic Create a Wreath Kit.

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop.

Kath xx

Thinking of You

Remembering a special friend on her birthday.

I've made this card using the gorgeous new Tea Dance Collection from Craftwork Cards.  Here's a close up to show the detail on the bloom.  I used an ink duster to add Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to all of the blooms and then sprayed with gold Spray and Sparkle.

If Friends were Flowers...

This is a card I made using the Black Magic Goody Box from Craftwork Cards and some of the Embossed White Flowers:

Here's a close up of the flower:

To make the flower I used two flowers layered on top of each other.  Each petal was scored down the centre and folded to give dimension. For the curly centre I used two the flowers with long petals, Cut down the centre of each petal and curled each piece, the left one in one direction and the right one in the other.  I then stuck one flower inside the other and attached to the bigger flowers.

You can't see from the image but I did spray the whole flower with silver Spray and Sparkle.

Mother's Day

I've made a card and a wreath for my friend, Tess the dog, to give to her mum.  First up is the card:

The card is made from a bird house blank to which I added lots of Chantilly Olive crushed Candi with a dot of Stickles glitter glue in the centre of each.  I used the Printer's Blocks stamps and Dusty Concord Distress Ink to create the 'mum' sentiment.

Here's a closer look of Tess peeping through the aperture:

The flowers round the aperture were part of the Bohemian Wreath kit.  There's enough flowers in a kit to make 2 wreaths but I like lots of layers on my flowers and used almost all of the flowers on this wreath. I did have a few spare though and so used them on this card.

Here is a picture of the wreath:

In real life the colours are more like the close ups of the blooms below:

It doesn't show up too well on the photos but the finished wreath is shimmery and sparkly - I sprayed it with silver Spray and Sparkle.

Just for You

Here is a card which I made for a swap on a card group that I'm a member of.

I used a Sizzix die to cut a heart shape from kraft card and covered it with crushed Candi before spraying with Spray and Sparkle.

The wording was created using Printer's Blocks stamps and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. I cut each letter out by hand and attached to the card with foam pads.  To finish off I added some seam binding which I had sprayed with water, scrunched up and allowed to dry.

Here is a close up of the heart:

Another Wreath

I've used the pink colour combination from the Craftwork Cards January Privilege Club kit to make this wreath and am really pleased at how it has come out.  The colours are absolutely gorgeous.

The backs of the flowers are all sprayed with Dylusions Ink sprays and I sprayed the finished wreath with silver Spray and Sparkle.

Close ups of the flowers:

Just got the white and cream embossed one to make up now.  I can't decide what colour sprays to use with it though.

Heart Wreath

The Privilege Club kit this month from Craftwork Cards is based on wreaths - 2 each in 3 colour schemes and it includes the new heart shaped wreaths.  Here is my first creation:

There is ribbon in the kit but I used some of my own for this wreath.  The backs of all of the flowers were sprayed using Dylusions inks and I sprayed the finished article with gold Spray and Sparkle.  I must confess that I used all of the die cuts from this colour scheme as I like lots of layers on my blooms!

Curly Whirly Wreath

I just love the curly whirly flowers from Craftwork Cards and so had to have a go at making a curly whirly wreath!

This was made using the Curly Whirly Candle Ring in Sweet Pea.  I sprayed the back of all of the flowers with a purple Glimmer Mist spray and was quite surprised by how much this changed the overall appearance of the finished wreath.  Rather than using the ribbon in the kit I used some purple and cream seam binding and this also changed the overall look.

Here are a couple of close ups showing the detail on the flowers:

I sprayed the finished wreath with silver Spray and Sparkle to make it more durable and to give it a shimmery finish.

Curly Whirly Wreath

I just love the curly whirly flowers from Craftwork Cards.  I made this wreath using a mini kit which contained the flowers, the chipboard ring and some lovely ribbon.

First of all I sprayed the backs of all of the flowers using a Latte Glimmer Mists spray.  Once dry I curled the petals and stuck the flowers together using Cosmic Shimmer glue - this is an amazing adhesive.  It dries quickly, sticks really well and a pot lasts for ages.

I painted the chipboard ring with a silver Tim Holtz Dabber when it was dry I attached the ribbon.  After I had glued the flowers onto the ring and added Candi to their centres, I sprayed the wreath with silver Spray and Sparkle 3 times.

Here's a picture of the finished article:

Little Gift Bags

Another production line effort!  These were actually pretty quick to make as when I made the wreaths in my previous post I had sprayed too many flowers so I used them for the bags.

I spotted this paper at a Craftwork Cards sale back in June and it has been earmarked for these bags since then.

All lined up together:

And a close up of the lovely curly twirly flower:

I've filled all of these with chocolates now and they'll soon be with the recipients.

Christmas Wreaths

I've been very busy making 14 wreaths - do you ever start something and wish you hadn't?  They're all finished now though and I'm really pleased with them.

Earlier in the year Craftwork Cards sold some kits with all of the flowers, ribbon and chipboard rings needed to make these.  When I first saw these I though there was no way I could make them but then I saw a video on the Craftwork Cards website by the very talented Karen Hayselden.  After watching it and seeing everything broken down in steps I decided to have a go.

Popping out the die cuts and spraying the backs of them with Dylusions and Glimmer Mist inks was somewhat a marathon in itself.

Here's a picture of some of the finished ones piled up together:

Here's a picture of one on its own:

Now some close ups of the flowers:

I wanted the wreaths to sparkle but I didn't want to use loose glitter as it gets everywhere so I used Spray and Sparkle Glitter Varnish in gold from Crafter's Companion.  It has given a lovely shimmering finish to the flowers and the ribbon.

I've also done some twelve little gift bags in the same colour scheme as the wreaths and will post these soon so please keep checking back!
