Flower Card

Here's a card which I made using the new flower shaped card blanks from Craftwork Cards and their Time Flies collection.

I layered two butterflies together and added Candi which I had scored down the centre to the top one.  Here's a close up to show the detail:

I really like the Time Flies collection and I've found that inking the edges of the elements with Dusty Concorde Distress Ink really makes the stand out.

From One Extreme to Another

Hi Everyone,

It's Kath here from the Craftwork Cards UK Design Team and I'm sharing my creations made for the Create a Wreath Blog Hop. You'll have arrived here from Barb Craft's post using the beautiful Bohemian Create a Wreath Kit on the USA Blog.

I've made two wreaths using this gorgeous Mr and Mrs kit.

The first one is relatively simple - a less is more creation:

I covered the chipboard heart with the patterned papers included in the kit and used a piece of Cut and Dry Foam with Black Soot Distress Ink to colour the edges. I attached the small flowers with a glue pen and added Candi to the centres. I'd normally bend the petals upwards but the flowers are covering the holes through which you can attach ribbon so I couldn't do that this time.

The focal point of the wreath is a layered bloom made up of four flowers from the kit and I added a pearl to the centre of the spiral flower. Here's a close up:

For my second wreath I wanted to show you how you can completely change the look of the kits by colouring the die cuts. Each kit contains enough die cuts to create two wreaths but I got a bit carried away here and used almost a full kit's worth of flowers to create one wreath - less is more went out of the window on this one!

I sprayed the backs of all of the flowers with a Purple Pansy Glimmer Mist spray and when I had layered them together I used an Ink Duster to colour them with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. To add some shimmer and sparkle I sprayed the finished wreath with Silver Spray and Sparkle.

Here are some close ups of the individual blooms:

If you are in the UK and want to buy a Create a Wreath kit, they are available from craft shops or on-line here.
If you would like the chance to win a Create a Wreath kit don't forget to leave a comment on this blog post. Each day we will randomly choose a winner and a lovely Create A Wreath Kit will be on its way to you! I'd love to know what you think of my creations.

Tomorrow remember to hop over to the USA Blog and see what Stacey has made with the Vintage Chic Create a Wreath Kit.

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop.

Kath xx

Thinking of You

Remembering a special friend on her birthday.

I've made this card using the gorgeous new Tea Dance Collection from Craftwork Cards.  Here's a close up to show the detail on the bloom.  I used an ink duster to add Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to all of the blooms and then sprayed with gold Spray and Sparkle.

If Friends were Flowers...

This is a card I made using the Black Magic Goody Box from Craftwork Cards and some of the Embossed White Flowers:

Here's a close up of the flower:

To make the flower I used two flowers layered on top of each other.  Each petal was scored down the centre and folded to give dimension. For the curly centre I used two the flowers with long petals, Cut down the centre of each petal and curled each piece, the left one in one direction and the right one in the other.  I then stuck one flower inside the other and attached to the bigger flowers.

You can't see from the image but I did spray the whole flower with silver Spray and Sparkle.

Julie's Delightful Daisies

I've had these for a while but haven't used them until now to make this card:

The daisies are pre-printed onto a 6 by 6 square of white card which I attached to front of a 6 by 6 card blank after I had embellished them.  I used Pro-Markers to colour some of the flowers and circles, added Candi and crystals to some and Retro Daisies to the large three.

The spine of this card is at the top and I scored horizontally across the back of the card before sticking the top half of the front and back together.  I'm not sure that makes sense but the image below should illustrate what I am trying to say:

This means the card stands at an angle like a frame.  I added a birthday sentiment inside the card.

Celebrate In Style

Here's a card I made with the Bubble Bloom (Clarissa) stamps which I bought from Craftwork Cards:

I stamped both images using Black Soot Distress Ink and added Candi, pearls and crystals to fill the circles.  The leaves are paper pieced and I finished the card off by tying some black grosgrain ribbon round the spine.

There is another set of these called Felicity and they too are lovely.  Here is a link to both sets.

Two of the Girls

These are the final two cards which I made for Craftwork Cards.

Part of the Dolly Mixtures collection by Craftwork Cards comprises postcards of the three girls who make up the collection, Amy, Coleen and Cheryl.  These are great for colouring in with ProMarkers, Copics etc.  I don't really 'do' colouring in as I always seem to find that whatever I do looks a mess!  But... I coloured in part of Amy and it didn't look too bad.  Here is the finished card:

I wasn't brave enough to colour Amy's dress but then I coloured in Cheryl and decided to go for it!  Here is the card I made:

The colouring is nowhere near as good as it could be but I don't think it's too bad.  There are lots of videos on You Tube that are worth watching but I guess the old saying practice makes perfect is relevant here!

Little Scottie Dogs

Here are three more of the samples which I made for Craftwork Cards to display this weekend.  All three feature the gorgeous scottie dog die cuts and Dolly Mixtures goodies.

I love the coat on this card:

Next I used a kraft card blank and lots of crushed Candi.

Here's a close up to show the detail:

Finally another kraft blank.  I cut away part of the front of this card and the tartan paper at the right is actually inside the card:

I used some kraft Candi on this card - I spotted it in clearance on the Craftwork Cards website and it's really nice so get some while you still can!

Pen Holder

Here are some pictures of a pen holder which I made from an empty coffee tin and some Dolly Mixtures products.

This is one of several samples which I made for Craftwork Cards to display on their stand at Alexandra Palace this weekend.

I love the little scottie dog die cuts - they work so well with these papers.

Two Quick and Easy Cards

I made this using a kraft blank from Craftwork Cards and two of these kraft flowers.  I used the pieces which I popped out of the petals on the large flower to create a third flower.  The sentiment is an In Circle message and I finished the card off with some Candi.

For my second card I used paper from the Flower Fusion Paper Pack - the flowers were cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die.  I added crushed Candi round the the edges of a black and silver frame before attaching the flowers to the frame and adding more crushed Candi to form the centre of the flower.  Again the sentiment is an In Circle message.

Here is a close up of the frame:

Hanging Flowers

Here's a little something I made using these kraft flowers from Craftwork Cards.  Unfortunately I didn't get a good full picture of this hanging up but here are photos of the three individual flowers.  Each of these was made by gluing three kraft flowers together.  I made the curly centres by using one of the kraft flowers with long petals, cutting down the centre of each petal and then twisting them. I then attached small die cut flowers (Tim Holtz - Tattered Florals die) to the centres of the curly flowers and added a piece of crushed Candi to finish them off.

The three completed flowers are attached together with twine and I threaded this through several pieces of Candi above each flower.

Here is one of the flowers laid on its side so you can see the dimension of it.

And finally a picture of the whole thing laid down:

I must say I was very pleased with this - I had a 'lightbulb moment' in the middle of the night about sticking the the flowers together to create something dimensional!

Tunnel Card

I made this using one of the new tunnel cards from Craftwork Cards:

I also used kraft flowers and some papers from the Flower Fusion Paper Pack.  The centre of the large flower was made from two of the flowers with the long petals - I cut down the centres of each petal and twisted them.

It doesn't show up too well on the photos but I coloured some of the flowers with an Ink Duster and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Mother's Day

I've made a card and a wreath for my friend, Tess the dog, to give to her mum.  First up is the card:

The card is made from a bird house blank to which I added lots of Chantilly Olive crushed Candi with a dot of Stickles glitter glue in the centre of each.  I used the Printer's Blocks stamps and Dusty Concord Distress Ink to create the 'mum' sentiment.

Here's a closer look of Tess peeping through the aperture:

The flowers round the aperture were part of the Bohemian Wreath kit.  There's enough flowers in a kit to make 2 wreaths but I like lots of layers on my flowers and used almost all of the flowers on this wreath. I did have a few spare though and so used them on this card.

Here is a picture of the wreath:

In real life the colours are more like the close ups of the blooms below:

It doesn't show up too well on the photos but the finished wreath is shimmery and sparkly - I sprayed it with silver Spray and Sparkle.

Just for You

Here is a card which I made for a swap on a card group that I'm a member of.

I used a Sizzix die to cut a heart shape from kraft card and covered it with crushed Candi before spraying with Spray and Sparkle.

The wording was created using Printer's Blocks stamps and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. I cut each letter out by hand and attached to the card with foam pads.  To finish off I added some seam binding which I had sprayed with water, scrunched up and allowed to dry.

Here is a close up of the heart:

Get Well Soon

Here's a bird house card which I made as a Get Well card.

I crushed the coloured Candi using a thick foam mat and an embossing tool.  The brown Candi was squashed using my fingers and I stuck it on upside down, then added a dot of Platinum Stickles to the centre of each piece.  Here is a close-up of the coloured Candi:

Birthday Boy!

Here's a card I've made for a friend whose birthday is today.  I've used the Printer's Blocks stamps from Craftwork Cards along with die cut footballs.

Here's a close up of the letters so you can see how great these stamps are:

Finally a picture of the inside - I had to get the age in somewhere!

Happy Birthday Gary, hope you have a good day xxx
